New research published in a letter to the New England Journal of Medicine shows that it’s unlikely you will get COVID-19 after being fully vaccinated. Researchers studied more than 36,000 health care workers in California. Less than one percent tested positive for COVID-19 two weeks after receiving both doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines. Better yet, not a single vaccinated doctor who contracted COVID-19 was hospitalized or died. While it does appear possible to get COVID-19 even after receiving the vaccine, this study confirms what we saw in the vaccine trials, namely that it dramatically cuts the chances of being hospitalized or dying from the virus.
