330. Seniors feel their 20s or 30s were their happiest years
Dr. David Geier is an orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist in Charleston, South Carolina and Charlotte, North Carolina. He helps athletes and active people feel and perform their best, regardless of age, injuries and medical history. He has been featured in major media publications and shows over 2,500 times throughout his career.
One-third of seniors say they would go back in time to relive part of their lives, according to a survey of 2,000 older adults conducted by OnePoll for BrightStar Care. Asked if they could relive one decade of their lives, over half chose their thirties or twenties. Asked if given the chance to redo one major life decision, saving more money was the most popular choice, followed by investing earlier. Finally when asked to give advice to their younger selves, responses included accepting challenges, following your intuition, and seizing life.
Through the stories of a dozen athletes whose injuries and recovery advanced the field (including Joan Benoit, Michael Jordan, Brandi Chastain, and Tommy John), Dr. Geier explains how sports medicine makes sports safer for the pros, amateurs, student-athletes, and weekend warriors alike.
