I want to extend my sincere congratulations to the city of Charleston for its win as the 2010 Best Tennis Town in the United States. As winner, we receive $100,000 for tennis programs and facility upgrades. This is a town with tremendous clubs, leagues, programs, and personnel from the youth to recreational to professional levels. As chief tournament physician for the Family Circle Cup, I can personally attest to the terrific staff and facilities of the Family Circle Tennis Center, and the other clubs in Charleston and the pros at those clubs are outstanding as well. I have seen first-hand the unbelievable passion tennis fans here possess. I have no doubt that the money will enhance existing facilities and programs and make this an even better city for tennis.
