More and more, we’re hearing reports of people who become “long haulers” after suffering COVID-19, meaning they haven’t fully recovered weeks or even months after symptoms first developed. UK researchers recently estimated that about 10 percent of patients experience prolonged symptoms, with fatigue and cough the most common. What’s unusual about these long haulers is they often only had mild symptoms that didn’t require hospitalization or ICU care. As of yet, experts don’t know why some people become long haulers or how to help them reach full recovery.
