In the largest study to date, researchers found that people with low vitamin D levels have increased risk for developing COVID-19. Low levels were also associated with the risk of hospitalization from COVID-19. As much as 70% of the adult population worldwide has insufficient or deficient levels of vitamin D. This study stresses the importance of individuals obtaining the daily recommended dose of vitamin D, whether through supplements or spending 30 minutes in sunlight.
