Rates of infection after ACL reconstruction surgery have been reported in 0.14% to 5.7% of patients. A recent study showed that deep surgical site infections were identified in 0.32% of the ACLR cases.
An 8.2-times higher risk of infection was observed in hamstring tendon autografts compared with patellar tendon autografts. There was no difference identified between allografts and patellar tendon autografts.
