Researchers at Northwestern have found that being hospitalized with COVID-19 is associated with memory loss, trouble focusing and other neurological problems that can last for months. In a study published in the Annals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, scientists examined over 500 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 and discovered over 80 percent had neurologic manifestations at some point during their illness. They believe the negative effects of the virus could last for a long time, possibly creating a large number of cases of dementia and cognitive decline years down the road.
