According to data collected by Legal Templates, a company that provides legal documents, the number of people seeking divorces increased 34 percent this spring compared to the same time last year. Almost a third of those couples cite the COVID-19 lockdown as the main cause. Internet search terms related to divorce, like “file for divorce online” and “I want a divorce” are also way up. Recently married couples appear to be more likely to consider divorce than couples who have been together longer.
Divorces appear to be rising due to the COVID-19 pandemic
