Kids are often reluctant to tell their parents and coaches that they are hurting. They don’t want to let them or their teammates down. So don’t push young athletes to play sports with pain. Open communication with them so they tell you when they’re hurting. Most youth injuries involve overuse, so give your child a few days off to rest and recover. If the pain doesn’t improve, go see a doctor.
