To decrease your risk of catching the coronavirus while working out at gyms and fitness centers, we advise you to stay six feet from others and wipe down the equipment you use. But you might also consider avoiding the gym sauna. After all, these are small enclosed spaces with poor ventilation where aerosol droplets can stay in the air. Most gym saunas are too small to stay six feet from another person in it. And even if you wear a mask, that mask becomes ineffective once it gets wet. If you insist on using a sauna, use it by yourself, and wipe down the areas you touch before and after you use it.
Gym users should avoid saunas during the pandemic
