A study published Monday in JAMA Internal Medicine shows that blacks and Hispanics, as well as American Indians and Alaskan Natives, are much more likely to be hospitalized with COVID-19 than whites. Researchers from the University of Minnesota studied data on nearly 50,000 COVID-19 hospitalizations from 12 states. In all 12 states, hospitalizations were higher among black people than among whites. In all but one state, hospitalizations were higher among Hispanics than among white people. On the other hand, Asians had a lower rate of COVID-19 hospitalizations compared to their percentage in the population.
