While we have been concerned about the rise in coronavirus cases as businesses reopened, South Korean researchers have found that people are more likely to contract the virus from members of their own households than from contacts outside the home. They studied almost 6000 index patients who tested positive and almost 60,000 people who came into contact with them. While nearly 12 percent of patients’ household contacts developed COVID-19, less than 2 percent of their non-household contacts caught the virus.
