Sports medicine stats: ACL injuries in high school sports

In a meta-analysis of 10 studies that reported the incidence and yearly risk of ACL tears per athletic exposure in HS athletes, 700 ACL injuries were identified across >11 million athletic exposures as reported in 10 unique articles. Football had the highest number of ACL injuries, and female soccer had the highest rate of injury per exposure. Although more injuries were recorded in males than females, females had an approximately 1.6-fold higher rate of injury per exposure than that of males in sex-comparable sports.
