People who wear eyeglasses for at least 8 hours a day might be protected from catching the coronavirus, according to a new study in JAMA Ophthalmology. Chinese researchers studied 276 patients hospitalized with COVID-19. While about one-third of the population in the Hubei province normally wear eyeglasses, less than 6 percent of the COVID-19 patients wore them. In addition to providing a barrier to entry of virus particles from the air, wearing glasses might discourage us from touching our eyes, which we normally do about 10 times per hour.
Wearing glasses might decrease your risk of COVID-19
