One of the stranger aspects of the data on COVID-19 cases and deaths is the male-to-female discrepancy. By that I mean the infection rates between men and women are essentially the same, but across the world, 60% of the deaths have been males. Men are over twice as likely to die from COVID-19. Why? A new study in the journal Nature found that there are big differences between men and women in terms of how our immune systems respond to the virus soon after being infected. Essentially, women with the coronavirus are better prepared to eliminate it than men.
Why are men more at risk of dying from COVID-19?
