Authors of a new study published in JAMA Pediatrics last week analyzed COVID-19 data from children in the PEDSnet system, consisting of seven large pediatric hospitals across the country. Researchers found that generally the risk of COVID-19 infection for pediatric patients appears low. But Black, Hispanic, and Asian patients, patients with public health insurance like Medicaid, and children with medical conditions like diabetes had greatly increased chances of positive test results.
