The former commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration believes it’s unlikely that a COVID-19 vaccine will be available to the American public by the end of 2020. In an interview on “Face the Nation”, Scott Gottlieb explained he believes that if one is ready before the end of the year, it will be used first for high-risk groups, especially nursing home residents and health care workers. Currently, three vaccine candidates are in the final phase 3 trials. The Trump administration aims to deliver 300 million doses of a coronavirus vaccine by January.
