We know the most common COVID-19 symptoms – cough, fever, shortness of breath. But those symptoms can occur with the seasonal flu and colds, making it hard to know when you should get tested for COVID-19. They found that of the roughly five percent who tested positive, a loss of taste or smell were by far the strongest predictors of having a COVID-19 infection. You should consider seeing your doctor if you have any symptoms that could represent COVID-19, but especially do so if you notice a loss of smell or taste.
