The pandemic has caused more young people to live with their parents than at any time since the Great Depression. According to the Pew Research Center, just over half of young adults (52 percent) resided with one or both of their parents in July, up five percent since February. This increase applies to men and women, all racial and ethnic groups, and young adults in big cities and rural areas. The two most common reasons given by young people for moving back home? Closing of college campuses and job loss or financial hardship.
