We have witnessed a surge in coronavirus cases with the return of college students to campus. A new study from the University of Georgia estimates that this return to college caused a 9 percent increase in COVID-19 cases in the counties of U.S. universities. As of October 20, the New York Times estimates that over 178,000 college students from more than 1,400 universities have tested positive. This data comes at a time when the vast majority of colleges and universities plan to bring students back to campus in some form.
