Mothers infected with COVID-19 are unlikely to pass the virus to their babies through breast milk, according to a study published last week in the Journal of the American Medical Association. Researchers analyzed 64 breast milk samples from 18 infected mothers and found that none of the samples contained active virus particles. Nursing mothers should still take precautions, especially wearing a mask while breastfeeding and washing your hands before touching the child, a pump or bottle.
