Public health officials have been warning that there is no conclusive evidence yet that the COVID-19 vaccines prevent spread of the coronavirus. But researchers from Sheba Medical Center in Israel have found that people who receive the vaccine have significantly higher levels of antibodies than even people who recovered from severe COVID-19 infections. We don’t yet know how long immunity will last, and the results are preliminary, but the head of Sheba’s Infectious Disease Epidemiology Unit says these results suggest that fully vaccinated people won’t carry or shed the virus, meaning they won’t pass it on to others.
