Restaurants and salons are starting to open. It’s important to educate yourself on specific plans these businesses are putting into place to keep customers safe.
Here are a few steps you can take when eating out.
Try to find a restaurant where the tables are spread as far apart as possible, preferably at least 6 feet away from the next one. Even better, find those where you can sit outside. Also, ask if the waiters, cooks and staff will be wearing masks. Consider wearing a mask yourself until you start eating.
Wait staff and other restaurant employees will also need to wash their hands or use hand sanitizer between contact with each table throughout a shift.
As for hair stylists and salons, use caution. Both you and your barber or hairstylist should wear a mask. You might have to remove yours for a few minutes if the straps are in the way. You won’t be able to keep six feet between you and the person cutting your hair, but make sure other stylists and customers are six feet away.
If you are really concerned you’ve been exposed to the virus while out in public, consider changing your clothes and taking a shower as soon as you get home.
Going to restaurants and salons, like going anywhere in public, carries some risk. Decide how much risk you’re willing to take, especially if you are at high risk for serious illness from COVID-19.
