Sleeping next to your romantic partner or spouse not only improves your sleep quality, but it also boosts your mental health. In the new study, published in the journal Sleep, researchers from the University of Arizona collected data from 1,000 adults. Those who shared the bed with their romantic partner on most nights suffered from less severe insomnia and fatigue. They spent more time asleep without any disturbance. But they also exhibited lower depression, anxiety, and stress scores, and they had greater social support.
